Resolve Unexpected Error When Editing an Advanced PDF/HTML Template

Scenario

An Unexpected Error is encountered when trying to Edit or Customize an Advanced PDF/HTML Template for a specific Transaction. This happens when a Script or Workflow deployed is encountering an error when loading the record.

NetSuite runs all before load scripts to get updates on the records and it triggers all Before Record Load Actions in Workflows before it loads the Template in the Editor. If any Before Load Scripts or Workflow actions fail, an error message appears and users cannot edit the Template until the Script or Workflow issues are resolved.

Undeploying scripts or workflows will resolve the issue.

Solution
  1. Navigate to Customization Scripting Scripted Records
  2. Erring Record: Click Edit
  3. Click the User Event Scripts
  • Deployed: Remove Checkmark
  • Note: Do this step for all scripts
  1. Click the Client Scripts
  • Deployed: Remove Checkmark
  • Note: Do this step for all scripts
  1. Click the Workflows
  • Deployed: Remove Checkmark
  • Note: Do this step for all workflows
  1. Click Save

Note: It may be best to do this during off peak hours and immediately re-deploy the Scripts & Workflows upon the creation of the Templates to avoid disruption of processes. Internal coordination is greatly suggested prior to undeployment of any Scripts or Workflows.
