Proposal Summary
This proposal describes the work around for restricting the business unit values inside the
location field on POs and TOs.
Requirement
To restrict the “Business unit” field values based on check box value inside the location
record.
Our solution
We cannot restrict the business unit (location) values inside the location field. We will do a
small customization for achieving this functionality.
Field setup
We will create a custom field inside the location (Business Unit) record name “Display
business unit”.
This field must be checked for displaying the “business unit” inside the location field
Customization solution
- The original location field is disabled in the PO and TO forms. This will help to limit the user’s
ability to select the location value manually. - We will add a virtual field named “Alt location” inside the purchase and transfer order form
using a user event script. This script will allow users to select the business unit for the
location field.
Page I 5 - This field is only showing the create / edit mode of the purchase orders and transfer orders.
Not in record’s view mode. - The “Alt. location” field will be list, all business unit (location) with “Display business unit” checked.
- This field, “Display business unit” will be the mandatory field. when the user selects the
values in the virtual field. The same value will be populated on the “Location field.”
Assumption
- This will be a work around solution.
- The user must configure display business unit checkbox for displaying location list on
the virtual field. - This customization is only applicable for the purchase and transfer orders
