- The initiation of the NetSuite order-to-revenue workflow commences with either a sales order or an invoice. This workflow specifically encompasses various transactions, such as sales orders, invoices, cash sales, return authorizations, credit memos, and cash refunds.
- In scenarios where the classic revenue recognition features have been utilized prior to the adoption of Advanced Revenue Management (Essentials), the existing order-to-revenue workflows that commenced before enabling this feature will continue to operate under classic revenue recognition.
- For any newly created order-to-revenue workflows subsequent to the activation of Advanced Revenue Management (Essentials), the system will automatically apply this advanced feature. This includes all new sales orders, even those generated from quotes that were created before the Advanced Revenue Management (Essentials) feature was enabled.
Rev Rec Start and End Date Fields
- Upon enabling the Advanced Revenue Management (Essentials) feature subsequent to utilizing the Revenue Recognition feature, the well-known Rev. Rec. Start Date and Rev. Rec. End Date fields become integrated into the sales transaction lines. It’s noteworthy that although these fields are not obligatory for Advanced Revenue Management (Essentials), they can be concealed on sales transactions during the implementation process.
- To clarify, the display of these fields requires the simultaneous activation of both Revenue Recognition and Advanced Revenue Management (Essentials). This ensures that users can access and utilize these fields as needed, while also allowing for the flexibility to customize the visibility of these fields based on the specific requirements during the implementation phase.
- If you enter dates in the Rev. Rec. Start Date and Rev. Rec. End Date fields on the transaction before revenue elements are created, the dates are copied to the revenue element in the following fields:
- Start Date
- End Date
- Forecast Start Date
- Forecast End Date
Changes to the start and end dates on the sales transactions after revenue elements are created do not affect the revenue elements. Changes to the start and end dates on the revenue elements can be made by editing the revenue arrangements.
