RFID Workflow Trigger
An RFID workflow trigger refers to the automatic initiation of a predefined business process (or workflow) when an RFID tag is scanned or detected. This trigger is based on the identification data from the RFID, which is linked to an entity in the system (such as an item, order, or asset). When the system detects this scan, it uses that data to start or advance a workflow, without manual input.
Example:
Let’s say your warehouse uses RFID to track item movement.
- Each inventory item has an RFID tag.
- When an employee scans the RFID tag at the receiving dock, the system reads the tag and identifies the item.
- This scan automatically triggers a workflow in NetSuite that:
- Updates the item status from “In Transit” to “Received”,
- Notifies the inventory manager,
- And creates a receipt record.
This removes the need for manual data entry and ensures real-time process updates.
