Setup of Intelligent item recommendations

Enable intelligent item recommendations: 

  1. In NetSuite, go to Setup > Company > Enable Features. 
  1. On the Enable Features page, click the CRM tab. 
  1. In the Marketing section, enable the Intelligent Recommendations feature. 
  1. Click Save. 
  1. To install and activate the SC Intelligent Item Recommendations extension, go to Customization > SuiteBundler > Search & Install Bundles.   
  1. In the Keywords field, enter “intelligent item recommendations” and click Search.  
  1. Verify that the SC Intelligent Item Recommendations extension is returned in the search and select it.  

Note: Before enabling the Intelligent Item Recommendations feature, you can click the link in the feature description to preview what types of recommendations will be available in your account. Note that this is only a preview and recommendations will only be available after you enable the feature. 

Extension Activation 

After the bundle installation, we need to activate the extension from the extension for the website we wanted to activate the item recommendations.

Configure intelligent item recommendations: 

  1. In NetSuite, go to Commerce > Websites > Configuration. 
  1. Select the website and domain where the Intelligent Item Recommendations extension is activated and click Configure. 
  1. Go to the Extensions tab. 
  1. On the Intelligent Recommendations subtab, set the following fields 

Minimum Number of Items in Content Area – The minimum number of items that should be shown in each Recommended Items content area on the website. 

Maximum Number of Items in Content Area – The maximum number of items shown in the content area at a time. For example, if the total number of recommended items is 20, and the maximum is set to 5, the shopper can see a maximum of 5 items in the content area at a time. They can scroll to see the remaining 15 items. 

The default maximum number is 10 and it cannot exceed 20. 

The number of items visible to a shopper at a time also depends on the display size of their device. 

Width of Item Image – The width, in pixels, of the item images to be shown in the Recommended Items content areas on the website. 

Height of Item Image – The height, in pixels, of the item images to be shown in the Recommended Items content areas on the website. 

Enable Quick View for Items – This adds a Quick View button to each recommended item on the website. Clicking the Quick View button enables shoppers to see details of the recommended item without leaving the product page of the item they are already on.

Add intelligent item recommendations to the website: 

  1. On the website, go to the page where you want to add intelligent item recommendations. If you are adding an Item-specific Recommendation, you must go to a product detail page. 
  1. Log in to SMT. 
  1. In Edit mode, click Add on the Site Management toolbar. 
  1. Drag the Recommended Items content type to the page. 

Choose the appropriate location on the page based on what type of recommendations you want to add. If you want to add recommendations based on: 

  1. Shoppers who bought this also bought alternative items, you must place the content type in the page type area on a product detail page. 
  1. For all other options, that is, order or cart items, recently viewed items, shopper purchase history, or buy again you can place the content type in multiple areas on the page. 
  • If you drag it to an area marked as all pages, then the content displays on any page that contains that area. 
  • If you drag it to an area marked as page type, then the content displays on any page of that type. 
  • If you drag it to an area marked as this page, then the content displays only on the page that you add it to. 
  1. In the Name field, enter a name for the content type you are adding. This is an internal identifier for the content type. It is not displayed to the user anywhere on the website, but it is used to identify the content type in NetSuite and in SMT. 
  1. Choose when you want the intelligent item recommendations to be visible from the Visibility options. 
  1. From the Recommendation Scenario list, choose the recommendation scenario you want to add to the content area. 
  1. In the Heading field, enter the name for the heading displayed above the intelligent item recommendations. For example, you can display them as “You might like these items” or “Customers who bought this also bought…” 
  1. In the Number of Items Displayed field, enter the number of recommended items you would like to display. A maximum of 20 items can be displayed. 
  1. If a shopper with no transaction history visits the website, for example, a brand-new shopper or a guest shopper, the extension cannot calculate shopper context recommendations. Similarly, if an item has never been purchased before, the extension cannot calculate item context recommendations. From the options in the Fallback Recommendations list, select what shoppers should see when no intelligent recommendations are available. The options are: 
  • Hide Recommendations – hides the intelligent items recommendation area. 
  • Popular items – displays the bestselling items in the website catalog. 
  • New items – display the items most recently added to the website catalog. 
  1. In the Fallback Heading field, enter the name for the heading displayed above the fallback items, for example, “Bestsellers.” 
  1. In the Tags field, set keywords to help filter your content in the Review Changes list.

After you save the record and publish, you’ll be able to see the recommended the list on the website. The screenshot is added below for the same.
