Ship Central connection broken

Problem Statement:

We are still in our implementation phase, hoping to go live 1 July 2024. Our developer did not have ship central in his scope of works, but I felt confident that I could follow instructions on how to set up Ship Central. This was successful, however the developer removed the SCM Mobile bundle without telling me. After I reinstalled the bundle Ship Central did not work. Looking at the instructions again, it was very specific about having SCM Mobile installed before installing Ship Central. So I uninstalled Ship Central then reinstalled it.

Now I am stuck:

  • When I try to click “Manage Carriers”, I get the error message “Before you can complete the action, create a ShipEngine account first.”
  • When I click “Create ShipEngine Account”, I get the error message “an account with ExternalAccountId ****** already exists”

Is this fixable?

Solution:

Per checking our resources, the error message you have encountered in the Create ShipEngine Account means that the Company Account ID has been used in a previous attempt in creating the ShipEngine Account.

It should be noted that the combination of the Company Email and Company Account ID in the PackShip – Company Details should be a unique match and should not have been used previously with other attempts.

As such, kindly follow the below steps using an Administrator role:

  1. Navigate to Setup > Custom > Carrier Integration Details
  2. Click Get ShipEngine Account ID

If there is no ShipEngine Account ID generated or you encounter the message: “No Account ID found. Verify that your ShipEngine Account Registration has been completed.” > please follow the steps below:

  1. Using an Administrator role: navigate to Customization > Lists, Records, & Fields > Record Types
  2. Search for PackShip – Company Details > click the List hyperlink > click Edit on the Record found
  3. Set the Company Name, max of 56 characters
  4. Country Code
  5. Company Email
  6. Company Account ID
  7. First Name
  8. Last Name
  9. Password is not required

Note: Make sure that the Company Name, Company Email, and Company Account ID are unique and have not been used previously.

  1. Navigate back to the Record Types page and click the List hyperlink in all of the records below, and for every record found > click Edit > click Delete
  2. PackShip – Encryption Key
  3. PackShip – Shipping API Key
  4. PackShip – Carrier
  5. PackShip – Carrier Service
  6. Using a Packing Administrator Role, navigate to Setup > Ship Central Setup > Manage Integration & Carriers
  7. Enter a newly created 16 characters Encryption Key
  8. Click on Create ShipEngine Account button
