Subscription Plans with Subscription Billing

To create a subscription plan:

1. Navigate to Lists > Subscriptions > Subscription Plans > New.

2. Enter a name in the Subscription Plan Name field.

3. Choose a term from the Initial Term list:

  – Evergreen Term: Revenue ends after three years unless optional invoicing preferences are set to automatically extend revenue recognition.

  – Standard Term: The subscription-level end date defines the end date for all items, aligning end dates. NetSuite calculates the end date as the subscription start date plus the indicated subscription term. One-time subscription lines are active for one day.

  – Custom Term: Set the subscription-level end date at the subscription level, aligning end dates. One-time subscription lines are active for one day. The subscription-level end date for a custom term remains editable until any subscription line becomes active. Create a new term by clicking the plus icon.

4. Specify values for the Class, Department, and Location fields if needed.

Note: The Subscription Billing Enhanced UI SuiteApp also allows you to define or modify class, department, and location for subscription lines. Refer to “Class, Department, and Location Fields on Subscription Lines” for more information.

5. On the Lines subtab:

  – In the Item column, select an item. If the required item is not listed, refer to “Creating Items for Subscription Plans with Subscription Billing Enhanced UI.”

  – In the Required column:

   – Check the box to always include the item in the subscription.

   – Clear the box to allow customers to include or exclude the item as an option at the time of sale.

  – In the Type column, select one of the following:

   – One Time: Items incurring a single charge (e.g., setup or initialization fee).

   – Recurring: Items incurring charges throughout the subscription (e.g., recurring service).

   – Usage: Items incurring charges based on usage frequency or volume (e.g., minutes or data).

  – In the Billing Mode column, select one of the following:

   – In Advance: Payment due at the beginning of the charge period.

   – In Arrears: Payment due at the end of the charge period.

  – For recurring items, optionally adjust Prorate Start Date and Prorate End Date settings. Refer to “Proration Options” for details.

  – In the Include in Renewal Subscription column, choose a renewal option.

  – Click Add and repeat until all items are added.

6. Complete any necessary additional fields, then click Save.

7. Upon saving, NetSuite opens the Price Books subtab. Next, create a price book by setting up a price plan for each item. With the Subscription Billing Enhanced UI SuiteApp, create price books and plans for subscription plans using an enhanced time-based pricing UI. Refer to “Managing Price Books and Price Plans with Subscription Billing Enhanced UI” for guidance.
