SuiteCommerce Advanced Web Store Displays ‘Internal Error’ Message

When making changes to a SuiteCommerce Advanced web store, an Internal Error message may appear. One possible reason for this issue is a failed Search Index Update or Search Index Rebuild job. When an active web store item record is updated, NetSuite places a search index UPDATE job into the index queue to ensure proper indexing of item records on the search server.

To check the index job queue, navigate to Commerce > Websites > Website List > Edit the website > hover Actions > View Index Status.

A Search Index Rebuild job is required when making significant changes such as:

  • Modifying Facets, Search, and Sort fields in the Search Index subtab of the Web Site Setup page.
  • Adding or removing Languages.
  • Adding or removing Subsidiary Accounts.
  • Changing website Currencies when the site has currency-based fields defined as facets or sort options (e.g., price or cost).
  • Modifying the preference Include Out Of Stock Items in Web Store.
  • Deleting a SuiteCommerce Advanced Web Site, which removes its associated index.

If the search index rebuild or update job fails, users may encounter an Internal Error while browsing the web store. To resolve this, submit a new index update or rebuild job. Keep in mind that a maximum of two index rebuild jobs are allowed within a 24-hour period.
