Supply Planning

The supply plan is where NetSuite compares the demand plan– what I will need, in other words– and what you’re expected to have. From that comparison, the supply plan determines if you need to procure any additional stock. And when I say procure, you might buy those goods from a vendor, or they might be assemblies that you build for yourself.

When creating a supply plan, you select the subsidiary and location, along with a date range that the plan will cover, and then select the items for which you want to create supply plans. For every item you select, one plan gets created.

Creating orders from supply plans

  1. Go to Transactions → Purchases → Order Items.
  2. You can filter the list of orders to show only items using the Time Phased replenishment method. To do so, in the Replenishment Method field, select Time Phased.
  3. Verify that the box in the Order column is checked next to each item you want to create orders for.
  4. Verify that the appropriate quantity and rate are shown for each item.
  5. Click Submit.
