- Give the test item team and test manager feedback on how the testing is going.
- Provide the project team with visibility about the test results.
- Measure the test criteria or the testing tasks associated with the definition of done.
- Gather data for use in estimating future test efforts.
- Prove that the plan itself is right and that following it will eventually lead to the test objective.
