Scenario
If there are less Quantity Available on the Item Record’s Location sublist as compared to the Inventory Detail subtab’s Lot Number Quantity Available, it is possible that there are Committed Quantity on the Sales Order but does not contain Inventory Detail or Lot Number (also possible on Serial Number Available).
This is because you can commit to items without inventory detail. In order to check the mismatch, you need to create a Transaction Saved Search.
Solution
- Navigate to Reports > New Search
- Select Search Type: Transaction then click Create Saved Search
- Under the Criteria tab > Standard subtab, set the following:
- Type = any of Sales Order, Transfer Order, Work Order
- Location = (Mismatched Location)
- Item Fields… > Internal ID Number = (Mismatched Item)
- Under the Results tab > Columns subtab:
- Type
- Document Number
- Transaction Serial/Lot Number
- Transaction Serial/Lot Number Quantity
- Quantity Committed
- Assign Search Name on the Search Title field
- Click Save & Run
- Identify lines with no Serial/Lot Number but with Quantity Committed
