Transaction item options are fields that we can add to the line items of your transaction records and are the characteristics of an item.
We can source the item option value for an item from the item record field value of the corresponding item.

When we set a value to an item option, it gets added to the PDP page URL. We can set the URL parameter of an item option from configuration record.
The item option value appears on the cart and checkout pages.
