Types of Google Ads

Google offers a variety of advertising solutions to help businesses reach their target audience. As of my last knowledge update in January 2022, here are some of the main types of Google Ads:

  1. Search Ads:
    • These are text ads that appear on the Google search results page when users search for specific keywords.
    • Advertisers bid on keywords, and the ads are triggered when someone searches for those terms.
  2. Display Ads:
    • These are visual ads that can include images, graphics, and text.
    • Display ads are shown on websites within the Google Display Network, which includes a wide range of partner sites.
  3. Video Ads:
    • Video ads appear on YouTube and other partner sites within the Google Display Network.
    • Advertisers can create and upload videos to showcase their products or services.
  4. Shopping Ads:
    • These ads appear in the Google Shopping tab and are designed for e-commerce businesses.
    • They include product images, prices, and brief descriptions.
  5. App Promotion Ads:
    • These ads are designed to promote mobile apps and can appear on Google Search, Google Play, YouTube, and across the Google Display Network.
  6. Discovery Ads:
    • These ads appear in various Google feeds, including the Google Discover feed, YouTube Home feed, and Gmail Promotions tab.
    • They are visually rich and designed to engage users as they discover new content.
  7. Smart Campaigns:
    • These are a simplified advertising option for small businesses. Advertisers set a goal (such as phone calls or website visits), and Google’s automated system manages the campaign.
  8. Local Services Ads:
    • These ads are designed for local businesses and appear at the top of search results for specific local services.
    • They include business information, reviews, and contact details.
  9. Hotel Ads:
    • These ads appear in Google Hotel Search and can help hotels and travel businesses showcase their offerings.
  10. Call-Only Ads:
    • These ads are designed to encourage users to call the advertiser directly from the search results without visiting a website.

Keep in mind that Google regularly updates and introduces new ad formats and features, so it’s a good idea to check the latest documentation or resources provided by Google Ads for the most up-to-date information.
