Understanding CSM is key to improving customer satisfaction, as it lets businesses schedule maintenance when it’s most convenient for them, ensuring their operations aren’t disrupted by necessary technical work.

What is Customer-Scheduled Maintenance (CSM)?

Customer-Scheduled Maintenance is a feature in NetSuite that allows Administrators to take control of scheduling major version release upgrades for their production and sandbox accounts. With CSM, you can say goodbye to the hassle of reaching out to Customer Support for such updates.

How CSM Works:

  • Accessibility: CSM is accessible to users with the Administrator role or those with “Set Up Company” permission, ensuring that only authorized individuals can manage upgrade schedules.
  • Flexibility: Administrators can reschedule their major version upgrades, providing flexibility to choose a timing that aligns with your business needs.
  • Locking Period: To maintain system integrity, CSM will lock 24 hours before the scheduled upgrade, ensuring a smooth and controlled process.
  • Time Zone Awareness: The CSM interface displays time based on the user’s UI time zone preference, making it convenient for global users.

Upcoming Upgrade Example:

For instance, let’s say NetSuite is planning an upgrade to version 2025.1 on June 6, 2025, at 20:00 hours. As an administrator, you can use CSM to reschedule this upgrade to a more suitable time for your organization.
