Utilize Commerce Categories from an Existing Website to a New Website Record

We can assign the same commerce categories to multiple SuiteCommerce Advanced web stores.

This solution is divided into three parts:

A) Retrieve Existing Commerce Categories

  1. Navigate to List > Search > Saved Searches > New > Commerce Category
  2. Input any text under Search Title field
  3. In the Results subtab, add the following fields:
  •     Add to Head
  •     Catalog (Note: Choose the second Catalog item as the first one would generate Catalog ID instead of name)
  •     Description
  •     Display in Web Site
  •     External ID
  •     Page Heading
  •     Inactive
  •     Meta Description
  •     Meta Tag HTML
  •     Name
  •     Category Page Banner
  •     Page Title
  •     Primary Parent
  •     Sitemap Priority
  •     Sequence Number
  •     Category Thumbnail
  •     Category Thumbnail URL
  •     URL FRAGMENT

 4. Under the Save button, click Save and Run

B) Export Search Result as CSV and Modify the Record

  1. In the same window, click the paper-like button beside the Excel button
  2. Save and open the file on your desktop
  3. Under the Catalog column, type in the associated catalog name of your newly created site
  4. To check for the associated catalog, navigate to Commerce > Content Management > Commerce Catalogs
  5. Under the External ID column, type in some unique numbers per category
  6. Save the file

C) Upload the Modified CSV Record

  1. Navigate to Setup Import/Export Import CSV Records. This directs you to the Import Assistant page.
  2. In the Import Assistant page, this has four phases to be configured:

o  In Step 1 – Scan & Upload CSV File, populate the following fields:

  • Import Type: Select Website
  • Record Type: Select Commerce Category
  • Character Encoding: Select Western (Windows1252)
  • CSV Column Delimiter: Select Comma
  • CSV File(s): Attach the CSV file we modified in Part (2)

Click Next

o   In Step 2 – Import Options:

  • Set Data Handling to ADD
  • Click Next

o   In Step 4 – Field Mapping:

  • Step 3 – File Mapping is automatically skipped since only one file is uploaded.
By default, all the important fields are already mapped
  • Click Next

o    In Step 5 – Save Mapping and Start Import:

  • Input any name
  • Click Save and Run
  • NetSuite processes the import. You can see the job status through the next page.

Notes:

  • You should be able to see the categories on your new website once the job status reaches 100%
  • If NOT all records are imported, download the CSV response file to see the log entries that you can use for trouble shooting
  • This ONLY works for new website and cannot be used to UPDATE existing website record
